Can a Palm OS handheld (with wifi card) go to any website, or just websites designed for handhelds?

Lucien Hellerman: That depends largely on the browser. Technically you should be able to view any website. However, keep in mind that most browsers for handhelds are made to be small, so that means cutting out a bunch of functionality from desktop browsers. Sites built for mobile devices are meant to be displayed at that small of a resolution, and, normally, don't include many of the bells and whistles of full websites. Viewing non mobile sites on a handheld can be problematic at best. Since you have only a limited amount of viewing space, the browser has to compress the entire page into a space far smaller that what it was intended for. That means making compromises. If the page has any scripts, or other special elements they may not display properly since most mobile browsers either don't or only partially support them. It is not uncommon for sites that depend heavily on scripts for layout not to display at all.Although it's geared toward Windows Mobile devices the site! from Pocket PC Magazine at http://www.pocketpcmag.com/mobile/mobile.asp should be a good place to look for sites built for mobile devices. Or you can do a search for mobile site listings and you should be able to come up with a couple thousand. Hope this helps some....Show more

Patricia Dornbos: Usually, it can access all sites. Some sites, like Google, have ones that are designed for mobile devices. With a mobile device, some features for sites may be omitted, due to the lack of Flash, Java, Shockwave, Adobe, and other drivers.Have Fun
