Bell Pasco: Don't bet on it or just any ol' schlep could peddle crap cars from their front yard.Maybe it works in the boonies, but don't think you're peddling junk in a residential neighborhood. My friend actually does this on his property outside of city limits, but he still has a separate building for the operation and a landline, etc......Show more
Kizzy Hett: You would be in violation of your local zoning laws by selling cars from a residential address. In fact, you would not even be issued a business license (required, in addition to a dealer's license). It might be possible to do what you want to do out in some remote rural unincorporated location -- but then how would customers find you?
Karl Jantzen: You CANNOT get a retail dealers license without a retail sales location. You can't run a used car lot out of a residential location. What you need is a Wholesale dealers license. This will allow you to buy and sell as many cars as you want without a retai! l storefront. The only catch. You can't sell the cars to retail customers, you can only buy and sell to other dealers or through the auto auctions. You still make your profit from the sale but you aren't selling to retail customers....Show more
Alden Soldano: That will be a local issue. It is up to the city town or state you live in. My mother has property in East Texas and several people within a few miles of her have used car lots with about 20 cars in their front yards. I live in Mesa Arizona and here that is illegal.
Kenneth Thuesen: No don't try that its really a bad idea. When I was selling my old car to car dealer my friend suggested me that do not sell but instead of selling you can scrap your car to Scrap Car Comparison(www.scrapcarcomparison.co.uk) and they gave me the best price for my old car.
