Can a car engine be used in a motorcycle?

Kenneth Thuesen: It is done all the time. There are even bikes with helicopter engines and and old aircraft engines. Look up Boss Hoss bikes. Jessey James also put a radial aircraft engine on a Bike

Dee Depung: It's been done:http://s4.hubimg.com/u/46331_f260.jpg

Elvin Mannheimer: No car engine is that compact...at least nowadays.

Julieta Suleiman: Yes, it's been done. But difficult to do by yourself unless you are an expert fabricator or have money to pay an expert fabricator.3 production models are:Boss Hoss, very fast but somewhat expensive.Chrysler Tomahawk. Viper V-10 powered. Only 10 sold for $1,000,000 each. Not street legal. Show bike only. And the way cool Honest Charlies Flat Head Ford bike. Moderately expensive. Not the most powerful. But very cool. There is a cool trike that a couple of people are making locally. They take an old POS front wheel drive car. Cut all the body from the firewall back. Remove the bodywork from that is left of ! the front. Place the bodywork from the back of the car on the front. Install a motorcycle type frame, seat, and front end. And they have themselves a relatively cheap trike. Parts are readily available. Decent power to weight ratio. And something different although a bit off the wall....Show more

Joesph Smithmyer: Yes, Boss Hoss motorcycles do it. Jessie James even put a diesel engine into a motorcycle frame.

Estrella Northway: Done seveal times. What kind of engine? Bosshoss.com uses Chevy V8's, Trikes were made out of VW beetles 40+ years ago an actor from the Disney studios made a Corvair engined 2 wheeler.

Frederick Mccoach: It is possible if you are creative enough to do that..Good luck!

Chanda Wittwer: Yes. Just because you CAN doesn't mean you SHOULD.

Coleman Deliberato: slipping creates more heat, as the plates grind against each other. when the clutch engages properly, there is no slipping and grinding of the plates, but a strong ! lock between plates. the same reason abusing (excess slipping)! the clutch will wear it out faster I couldn't tell you whether or not this applies to your moped, or whether it even has a wet clutch which I'd guess it doesn't. you should be able to find that info in the manual. if not, better safe than sorry- don't use anything with "friction modifiers" or marked energy conservation or other such additives...Show more
