Why are small businesses important to the US economy?

Carlton Lastrapes: Because small business hires the bulk of the workforce and accounts for a major portion of the nations productivity. One can also argue that small business is a major source of innovation. Big business looks to small business to buy ideas and technologies and then markets it as their own.
