Clementina Collelo: I can tell you from personal experience that your chances of getting hired at a beauty company are higher by graduating from a specialty college like FIDM compared to a CSU or UC. The reason is FIDM's beauty program is designed around the beauty industry and companies like it when you're ready to hit the ground running as opposed to having a general marketing degree and needing more training. My friend graduated from FIDM's beauty program and now works for Tarte Cosmetics. She's worked for other beauty companies as well but FIDM built the foundation for her to stand out above the rest. FIDM also has great industry connections for internships and jobs which can all help build your resume and portfolio. You also have the option of attending a CSU or UC, getting your general marketing degree and then transferring to FIDM for a second degree but if you know you want to work in the beauty industry then why spend the extra money when you can just go straight! to FIDM?
